The arena in Blockader looks simple at first. It is only a small ring filled with colorful enemies. The danger comes from how quickly that space disappears. This 2D roguelite shooter uses automatic attacks. You do not need to aim at every target. Instead, you control the character and decide where to move. Between waves, you also shape the character with new upgrades.
What Makes the Arena Tougher?
Blockader has eight danger tiers for melee enemies. The higher tiers create more pressure and leave fewer safe routes. The Sniper adds ranged attacks, so staying in one predictable path becomes risky.
Start moving as soon as the wave begins. Do not wait for enemies to reach you. Early movement gives you time to see which side of the arena is becoming crowded.
Melee enemies will try to close in. The Sniper creates another threat from outside the main group. Keep checking both sides of the battlefield.
Clearing enemies fills the wave progress. When the wave ends, you receive upgrade choices. These cards can change the way your character attacks or survives.
Some upgrades add more attacks. Others introduce effects such as chain lightning, poison, arrows, or special allies.
Is the Strongest Card Always the Right Pick?
Not always. Look at what your character already has. A card that improves an existing effect can be more useful than a powerful card that starts a completely different build.
Stars can be spent on gear and skill-tree upgrades. This gives you progression beyond a single run.
What should you upgrade first?
Look at your usual problem. If enemies reach you too easily, improve defense. If you survive but cannot clear waves quickly, focus on offensive options.
Lucky, Byte, Spark, Orbit, Sludge, and Spike offer different playstyles. Lucky starts unlocked. The others give you more reasons to experiment as you progress.
Changing characters can also change your upgrade priorities. A build that feels comfortable with one character may require a different approach with another.
